Where To With The Blog
Sharing a bit about my plans for future articles, and getting some feedback, perhaps?
I posted the first article on this blog on 18th July, exactly four months ago now. I went ahead and wrote about most things I had planned to, then a few others. As I haven’t spent as much time in the game this month, my publishing rhythm has slowed down a bit and I figured I might as well share what’s left on my list.
Guides and Docs
I’ve got an ongoing series going on buildings, of which I have two left to do:
the Nanoassembler
the Tooling Centre
Possibly I could do one more about Subspace Arrays, if I really wanted to scrap the bottom of the barrel! The first two I know pretty much everything I need already, but I’d need more research for the Arrays.
I’ve also been meaning to revisit Artefacts, since I’ve learnt a fair bit since writing up my guide on search patterns.
I’d like to write a little about Conflux swarms. Probably some starter guide, since I’m far from an expert on the topic of swarm hunting.
The remaining articles I’ve got in mind are more troublesome, because they would require tedious experimentation with willing wingmen:
Winging and XP sharing,
Bounties, merits and demerits.
I haven’t found any volunteer yet, although there’s been an offer to share alt accounts to be flown to experiment with bounties without compromising a main account’s Political Rating.
Interviews
This is pretty much the only potential topic of Jumpgate History I can still cover - unless I get my hands on more historical artefacts somehow. I’ve done the lone interview with Algore so far, which was a lot of fun to put together. The narrative context for this one sort-of presented itself to me and I just went with it. I haven’t done any other ones because I’m not sure exactly what they’d be about, but it only shows the limits of my imagination. I’d be quite willing to repeat the experience with people who feel they got a story to share.
I’ve thought about buggering people associated with NetDevil and the game’s making, but I am not a professional interviewer and have no design to be one, so I’ve stopped short of pursuing this. That said, if you happen to read this, fall in the above category, have a story to share, and don’t mind a readership that can be counter on fingers, I’ll be honored to record your thoughts for posterity.
Technical Articles
I might produce more of these depending on the progress of my rewrite endeavour (if you’re wondering, it’s still at approximately 0.01% - I may have underestimated the amount of research involved).
Opinion Pieces
I have lots of opinions about stuff, you may have noticed that. I might publish more of these if I fancy. It’s my blog, after all, you can’t stop me! I will write a piece about alt-lords in Jumpgate, but I want to do a bit more research before I do. And yes, I do realize that most of you reading ARE alt-lords. Ha!
Stuff I won’t Go Into
Jumpgate lore and role-play already has a champion in the community, and several blogs and sites covering that topic, so I do not intend to cover it here, other than in passing.
